AMANDUS1 KLEIN was born 1834 in probably, the Province of Luxembourg, Belguim. He married ANNA ________.

In the 1860 census, enumerated 26 June 1860 by Herman J. Schulteis, the household of Amandus Klein (Dwelling: 618/Family: 530) was reported as follows:

On 1 May 1871, Amandus Klein personally appeared before the clerk of the circuit court of Ozaukee County and made oath that he was born in Belgium on or about the year 1832; that he landed at the Port of New York on or about the month of July 1847 and that it is his intention to become a citizen of the United States. 1. DOMINIC2 KLEIN (PETER1) was born 16 April 1846 in probably, the Province of Luxembourg, Belguim, and died 25 October 1931 in age 85, of carcinoma of the bladder and prostate at 913 Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  His death is recorded in Ozaukee County death records, v 9, no. 693.  His funeral was held 28 October 1931 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 117 East Van Buren Street, Port Washington and he is buried in St. Mary's cemetery there.   He married CATHARINA STEINBACH 29 June 1870 in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church at Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Reverend H. J. Muckerheide presided.  Witnesses to the marriage were Adam Steinbach and Johanna Kloos. The marriage is recorded in the marriage register of the church. See also Ozaukee County marriage records, v 4, no 464.  She was the daughter of NIC STEINBACH and BARBARA LONGLIN. She was born 24 February 1853 in Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Catharina Steinbach's birth is not recorded in Ozaukee County birth records.  She died 03 June 1925 in age 72, of myocarditis at 826 Wisconsin Street, Port Washington.  Catharina (Steinbach) Klein's death is recorded in Ozaukee County death records, v 8, p 373.  Her funeral was held 06 June 1925 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Port Washington and she is buried in St. Mary's cemetery there.

On 19 June 1895, Dominic Klein personally appeared before the clerk of the circuit court of Ozaukee County and made oath that he was born in Belgium on or about the year 1846; that he landed at the Port of New York on or about the month of June 1857 and that it is his intention to become a citizen of the United States. See Ozaukee County naturalization records, v 13, p 237A.

This is probably the same Dominic Klein, "a native of Luxemburg" who "had declared on oath before the Circuit Court for the County of Ozaukee, State of Wisconsin on the Nineteenth day of June A.D. 1895 that it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States" and was admitted to become a citizen of the United States on 5 September 1895. See Ozaukee County certificates of naturalization, v 4, no. 26.

The Klein family resided in the Town of Fredonia, Ozaukee County.  The Kleins had at least six children and they adopted one.

Children of DOMINIC and CATHARINA (STEINBACH) KLEIN:

i. PETER3 KLEIN, was born c. 1872 at Town of Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Married MARY FEDERMEYER, 14 October 1896 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Port Washington, Ozaukee County.  Reverend Bernhard Elskamp presided. The witnesses were Nic. W. Klein, J. Federmeyer, Lizzie Klein and Magge Federmeyer.   She was born at Batavia, _______ County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hurbert and Anna (Weiland) Federmeyer.  Peter Klein operated a farm in Town of Belgium.

ii. NICHOLAS KLEIN was born c. 1873.

iii. SUSANNA KLEIN was born c. 1875 at Town of Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  She married NICOLAUS JAQUE, spelled Nicholas J‚que [with symbol over the a], on 22 February 1894 at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church at Holy Cross, Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Reverend P. H. Welbes presided.  The witnesses were Henry J‚que, Nic Klein, Mary J‚que and Lizzie Klein.  He was born Town of Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, the son of John and Christina (Rinnefeld) J‚que.  Nicholaus J‚que was a farmer near Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska.

iv. ELIZABETH KLEIN was born 30 August 1876 at Town of Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin; she died 14 February 1948, age 71, of coronary occlusion with myocardial infarction at St. Alphonsus hospital at Port Washington.  She was buried 17 February 1948, at St. Nicholas cemetery at Dacada. See Ozaukee County death certificates, v 13, no. 121.  Elizabeth Klein was also known as "Lizzie".  She married, first, PETER POHL on 27 January 1897.  He was born 14 December 1872 at _______, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Kate (Kaiser) Pohl.  Peter Pohl died 12 November 1912, age 39 of tuberculosis at 826 Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, Ozaukee County.  Peter Pohl's birth is not recorded in Ozaukee County birth records.  See Ozaukee County death certificates, v 5, no. 890, which is the source of information about Peter Pohl's birth, death and parentage.  His funeral was held 16 November 1912 and he was buried in St. Nicholas Catholic cemetery at Dacada, Ozaukee County.  Elizabeth "Lizzie" Klein married, second, NICHOLAS THEISEN on 12 May 1930 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Port Washington, Ozaukee County.  Reverend Peter Holfeltz presided. Witnesses were Kay Theisen and Anna Gallwitz.  See also Ozaukee County marriage records, v 11, no. 564 which is the source of information about the prior marriages of both persons.  He was born. 27 May 1873, St. Michaels, Town of Farmington, Washington County, Wisconsin, the son of Mathias and Catherine (Turk) or Maria (Sterrer) Theisen.  Nicholas Theisen died 02 March 1944, age 70, of tuberculous peritonitis and enteritis at St. Alphonsus hospital at Port Washington.  See Ozaukee County death certificates, v 11, no. 791.  His funeral was held 06 March 1944 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Port Washington and he is buried in St. Mary's cemetery there.  Nicholas Theisen married, first, Elizabeth Notting 26 September 1900 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church at Port Washington.   Reverend C. M. Grobschmit presided. Witnesses were John Dederies, Joseph Theisen, Emma Notting and Elizabeth Theisen. See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 6, no. 2210.  Elizabeth Notting was born before 1879 at Port Washington, the daughter of Bernard and Veronica (Zimmer) Notting.  Her birth is not recorded in Ozaukee County birth records.  She was born prior to her mother's death on 29 April 1879.  See Ozaukee County death records, v 1, no. 783.  Elizabeth (Notting) Theisen died 14 march 1929.

v. ANNA KLEIN was born at Town of Fredonia, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  She married PETER ROOB on 23 January 1901 at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church at Holy Cross, Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Reverend M. Oberlinkels presided.  Witnesses were John Roob, Maggie Klein, M. J‚que and M. A. Roob.  See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 7, no. 7.  Peter Roob was born at Dacada, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, the son of Michael and Margaret (Becker) Roob.  Peter Roob operated a farm near Vernon, Roberts County, South Dakota.

vi. CATHARINE KLEIN was born in 18__ at _________, Wisconsin.  She married MICHAEL ROOB on 28 February 1905 at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic church at Dacada, Town of ________, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.  Reverend John E. Halbenkann presided. Witnesses were Joseph Roob and Margareth Klein. See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 7, no. 501.  Michael Roob was born 18__ at ________, Wisconsin, the son of Michael and Margaret (Becker) Roob.  At the time of their marriage, Michael Roob was a farmer in Town of Belguim, Wisconsin.

vii. KATHERINE GRINER was born c. 1868.  Katherine Griner was adopted by Dominic and Catharina (Steinbach) Klein.

1. CHARLES2 KLEIN (JOHN MATHAEUS1) was born 14 July 1836 in Kirthausen, County Neuwied, Coblenz, Prussia, the son of John Mathaeus and Anna Elisabeth (Junversheid) Klein.  He died 29 May 1914 in age 77, of an enlarged prostate gland at Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. His funeral was held 02 June 1914 at Port Washington.  His death is recorded in Ozaukee County death records, v 6, p 206.  He married MARIE JOSEPHINE BIELEFELD on 11 August 1869 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Port Washington, Ozaukee County.  Reverend August Durst presided. Witnesses were John Peter Huberti and Mary Lutfring.  See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 4, no 270.  She was born __ ______ 19__, the daughter of John Henry and Anna Margaret (Specking?) Bielefeld.

At the time of their marriage, Charles Klein was a carpenter at Port Washington.

The Kleins had at least two children.

He married MARTHA ELISE PIPPERT on 11 October 1859 at ______ Roman Catholic church, Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.  Reverend John Niclas Bayer presided. See Sheboygan County marriage records.  She was born __ ______ 18__, the daughter of Lorenz and Sophia (_____) Pippert.

At the time of their marriage, John Henry Klein was a resident of Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

He married ELISABETH STRUB on 03 August 1867 at the home of Louis van Kugel at Town of Rhine, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.  Louis van Kugel presided. Witnesses were Johann Weiskopf and Peter Weiskopf.  She was born __ _____ 18__, the daughter of Adam and Elisabeth (Schudell) Strub.

PETER2 HILTGEN (PETER1) was born in 18__, the son of Peter and Elisabetha (Peshang) Hiltgen.  He married MARY KLEIN on 09 February 1875 at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church at Holy Cross, Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Reverend Louis Mueller presided.  Witnesses were Mathias Klein and Catharina Hiltgen. The marriage is recorded in the marriage register of the church. See also Ozaukee County marriage records, v 4, no. 1055.  She was born __ _____ 18__, the daugher of Peter and Catharina (Rausch) Klein.

At the time of their marriage Peter Hiltgen operated a farm near Holy Cross.

JOHN2 KLEIN (JACOB1) was born in Alsdorf, Kreis Billburg, Trier, Prussia, the son of Jacob and Mary (Ries) Klein. He married MARGARET MICHELS on 30 November 1880 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Lake Church, Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Reverend Peter Frieden presided. Witness were John Daufen and Nicholas Blong. See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 4, no. 1638.  She was born __ _____ 18__, the daughter of John and Mary (Peter) Michels.

At the time of their marriage, John Klein was a carpenter and resided at Town of Belgium.

He married CATHARINA BESCH 09 September 1874 in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church at Holy Cross, Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Reverend Louis Mueller presided.  Witnesses were Peter Jones and Dominic Watry. The marriage is recorded in the marriage register of the church. See also Ozaukee County marriage records, v 4, no. 1007.  She was born __ ____ 18__, the daughter of ANTON BESCH and MARIA OSSLY.

He married SUSANNA BRENNER 20 May 1890 at ______ Roman Catholic church at Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Reverend Theo. B. Meyer presided. Witnesses were Johann Benz and Anna Benz. See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 6, no. 1066.  She was born at Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin on __ _____ 18__, the daughter of AUGUST BRENNER and MARGARETHA BECKER.

At the time of his marriage, Peter Klein was a cigar maker and resided at Ellsworth, Price County, Wisconsin.

JOHN2 KLEIN (JACOB1) was born at ____ County, Ohio, the son of Jacob and Maria (____) Klein.  He married ANNA MICHELS 09 February 1875 in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Lake Church, Town of Belguim, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Reverend Caspar Schaettin presided. Witnesses were Nicolas Ronk and Nicolas Kitzinger. See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 4, no. 1054.  She was born __ ______ 18__, the daughter of JOHN MICHELS and MARIA ________.

At the time of their marriage, John Klein was a joiner and resided in Town of Belgium.

She was born 05 December 1811 at _________, in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and she died on 16 December 1903 at age 92, of "senile debility and cardiac exhaustion" at Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Her death is recorded in Ozaukee County death records, v 3, p 1177, which is the source of information about her birth, death and parentage.  She was buried at St. Mary's cemetery at Port Washington.

He married CATHARINE SCHROEL 09 May 1889 in ______ Roman Catholic church at Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Reverend Theo. B. Meyer presided. Witnesses were John Genz and John Weber. See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 6, no. 958.  She was born about 1837 at _______, Norway, the daughter of JACK SCHROEL and ANNA INGELSEN.

Peter Klein was a shoemaker.

In our records revised 04-16-91, Catharine Schroel's parents names are given as:  "Jack Peter and Anna (Ingelsen) Donlerong (?) or Doulerang Schroel."

At the time of his death, Peter Klein was a tailor.

At the time of his death, Peter Klein was a laborer.

MATHIAS2 ROOS (JOHN1) was born in New Berlin, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, the son of John and Elisabetha (Meier) Roos. He married CATHARINA KLEIN 20 June 1882 in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.  Reverend John Friedl presided. Witnesses were Benedict Bell and Peter Klein. See Ozaukee County marriage records, v 6, no. 1691.  She was the daughter of PETER KLEIN and MARGARETHA BENZ.

At the time of their marriage, Mathias Roos was a cigar maker residing at Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.
