He married Mary Ruth Gieryic 28 August 1976 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church at 117 East Van Buren Street, Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Reverends Kent A. Schmitt and John Wagner presided. Witnesses were David Raemisch and Elizabeth J. Gieryic Osterhaus. The marriage is recorded in the marriage register of the church. She was born 16 November 1949 at St. Alphonsus hospital, Port Washington, Ozaukee County, the daughter of Edward and Florence Elizabeth (Klein) Gieryic. Her birth is recorded in Ozaukee County birth records, v 29, no. 153.

She graduated from Port Washington High School in 1968. From 1968 to 1969 she attended University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh and gradauted from University of Wisconsin in Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work in 1972. In 1974, she earned her Masters degree in Social Work from University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Dean gradauted from Waunakee High School, Waunakee, Wisconsin in 1972. He got his Associate degree in Accounting from Madison Area Technical College, Madison, Wisconsin in 1975. In 1979, he graduated from the same school with an Associate degree in Data Processing.

Mary was employed as a social worker at Mazomanie Elementary School, Mazomanie, Wisconsin, from 1974 to 1975. She was the director of the "Trinity keen-Agers", a senior citizen’s center at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, Wisconsin, from 1974 to 1976. From 1975 to 1976 she was a social worker at the Attic Angels Nursing Home in Madison. From 1977 to 1985 she was a social worker at the Dane County Department of Human Services Office in Madison, Wisconsin. She has been a project coordinator for the Adult Protective Services Section of the Clinical Assesment Unit and with the Mental Health Center of Dane County in Madison from 1985 to present.

Dean worked as an accountant with the University of Wisconsin Credit Union in Madison from 1975 to 1977. Since 1979, he has been a Senior Data Base Analyst with Wisconsin Power and Light Company in Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin.

The Heins reside in McFarland, Wisconsin.

The Heins have no children.
