His birth was recorded 5 November 1893 in Washington County birth records, no. 4817. He was baptized in February 1893 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic church at Newburg. See the baptism records of the church. He died 20 July 1977, age 84, at St. Alphonsus hospital, Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin of arteriosclerotic heart disease. The funeral was held Friday 22 July 1977 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, 117 East Van Buren Street, Port Washington, and he is buried in St. Mary's cemetery there. His death is recorded in Ozaukee County death records, v 35, no. 296. He married Martha Anna Margaret Klein 15 July 1924 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church at Port Washington. Reverend Peter Holfeltz presided. Witnesses were Joseph Ferdinand Klein and Margaret Walch. The marriage is recorded in the marriage register of the church. Her birth is recorded in Ozaukee County birth records, v 7A, p 2077, which gives her name as Martha Maggie Klein. She died 30 March 1985, age 86 of congestive heart failure at St. Alphonsus hospital at Port Washington. The funeral was held Monday 1 April 1985 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic church at Port Washington and she is buried in St. Mary's cemetery there. Her death is recorded in Ozaukee County death records, v 45, p 234. Mathias Hansen served in the United States Army during World War I, from May 1917 to August 1919. He was employed as a foundry worker at the J. E. Gilson Company at Port Washington. They resided at 228 West Main Street, Port Washington 53074.
